Tips for Class

What to bring to class:
  • we have some mats available for use but recommend that you bring your own mat should you continue your practice. if you enjoy using your own props, you are welcome to bring those. You might also want to bring a towel and water.

  • wear comfortable clothing that will let you hang upside down and twist. stretchy pants and tank tops or fitted t-shirts are standard. we don't wear shoes but some people like wearing socks.
Your diet can affect your practice:
  • avoid eating 1-2 hours before class and avoid drinking too much water before and during class. after class, you will want to drink plenty of water to hydrate.
Timing counts:
  • please try to be on time. life happens so if you are late, please enter quietly and take a down dog to warm-up. if you must leave class early, save 5 minutes to practice savasana and leave quietly before the rest of the class starts savasana.
Location Location Location:
  • please park in the adjacent parking lots and try to avoid parking on the street in front of homes.

  • unless the front doors are open for great weather (!) then please use the right side entrance
Yoga is a philosophy:
  • Yoga is not a religion. all the focus and energy is sent to the universe and yourself. should you like to bring your own spiritual practice to class to access peace and calm, then it is your own decision. if you would like to discuss your concerns in person or over the the phone, please contact us.
Means of communication:
  • Sanskrit is an ancient language that has influenced many modern day languages. we use Sanskrit for pose names and yoga teachings but in no way is it a form of worship or praying.
Ask your doctor:
  • while yoga has helped people with many different conditions, ailments, and surgery recovery, it is no means a replacement for proper medical advice.
  • always ask your doctor for permission to do yoga if you've had any surgeries or conditions.

  • always tell your instructor before class
if you have any physical issues.
Can't touch your toes = perfect for yoga
  • the least flexible are the ones most perfect for yoga. a yoga practice helps open and strengthen all parts of your body and mind so it's perfect for any level and any age.

  • you may always consider a class "observational" if you need to take a break.

  • as a beginner to any class or new teacher, it's good to try 3-5 classes before making a decision on future practice.

Still unsure about yoga? Focus on the curiosity and give us a call or send an email. You can also come to class with an open mind and we can discuss everything in person!

This site is under construction please feel free to share your thoughts and ideas!
